Yuju's Weverse Post Made One Day before Source Music's Announcement of GFRIEND's Departure is Garnering Attention

On May 18, reports stated that GFRIEND might disband due to having conflicts in contract renewals. Source Music later announced that all six members of the girl group will not be renewing their contract with the agency.

While the company said that the members - Eunha, Sowon, Yerin, SinB, Yuju, and Umji - will be going their separate ways, they didn't specify whether GFRIEND would disband or not.

Some K-pop groups left their agency but remain as a team although the members are signed with different labels. Among them are Girls' Generation, GOT7, EXID, Girl's Day, and T-ara.

After Source Music's sudden announcement, GFRIEND's fans are left in a state of distress and confusion. In addition, they are now flocking to Yuju's post on Weverse, which was made on May 17, the day before the shocking news.

GFRIEND Yuju's post, which was considered to be just a normal post at first, is now seen as a more meaningful post among fans as it appears to be a hint at the girl group's departure from Source Music.

On Weverse, Yuju shared a photo showing a page of an old diary. The content was written one day before she made her debut in GFRIEND in January 2015.

On Jan. 15, 2015, she wrote in her diary, "Debut D-1, tomorrow I will make my debut on Music Bank. Our first album, "Season of Glass," was released today, and a lot of content such as music video and shooting site were revealed. Just believe. If it's bad, it's bad. If it's good, it's good. I will continue to do my part faithfully and focus on the moment."

The Weverse post is reminiscent of the time of GFRIEND Yuju making her debut under Source Music. The idol seems to be remembering the first day she officially became an artist of the company, and now she will be leaving the agency along with her bandmates after six years.

GFRIEND Yuju's OSTs in 2020-21 under Source Music

Last year, GFRIEND Yuju was chosen to sing several original soundtracks for different dramas. In March, she released "This Way That Way" as an OST for "Yoobyeolna! Chef Moon," also called "Eccentric! Chef Moon."
