GFRIEND Pens Handwritten Letters to Fans Following News of Their Departure from Source Music
On May 19, the six members of GFRIEND took to Weverse to share handwritten letters to fans. This comes one day after it was announced they would be leaving Source Music after six years due to failed contract negotiations.
In their letters, GFRIEND members allude to the group's disbandment.

The group's leader, Sowon, recalls her debut in her letter and how lucky she was to have met BUDDYs (GFRIEND's fandom) and to have received so much love from them. She claims that she often wondered if she deserves so much love, as she is a person with lows self-esteem.
However, she was able to learn and grown thanks to BUDDYs.
Sowon says it is a pity that she and BUDDYs won't be seeing each other as often but says that this is not the end. Though her time with GFRIEND has ended, there will still be a future for her and BUDDYs, and that she will move forward.
She apologizes to the fans for the sudden news and says she will repay them with an even better image.
SinB's letter showed her sadness, saying that her heart hurts that she has to deliver such sudden news through a letter. She states that it was because of BUDDYs love that she was able to bloom, and she is so happy and thankful to have received so much love and support from the fans.
She says that thanks to the fans' letters, cheers, and warm glances, she was able to discover more about herself. She is sad and sorry that she was unable to keep her promises to the fans.
SinB states that she will never forget the activities she had as a member of GFRIEND and that she will repay them with her individual activities. She claims the past six years are the happiest times of her life, and thanks Source Music for making her a member of GFRIEND.
She apologizes and says that she loves both BUDDYs and the GFRIEND members.
Yuju, too expressed how heavy-hearted she felt to deliver such sudden news to BUDDYs. She states that every day she spent as a member of GFRIEND was special thanks to the fans, and recalled how the past six years, GFRIEND and BUDDYs spent it together.
As Yuju looked back at their past memories, she recalled how much love the fans gave her.
Yuju states that it was an honor to dance and sing in front of the fans and thank them for loving GFRIEND all the time. She adds that BUDDYs are the most precious people in the world, and she will always remember their expressions, gazes, and cheers as she performed.
She thanks the fans for protecting her and promises that she will continue to grow so that GFRIEND's disbandment doesn't end with just sadness.
Umji, like Sowon, recalled her debut in her letter. She states that she lacked in many areas when she first debuted, and she had no idea what she was doing.
Still, she was able to realize she was walking on an amazing path and was able to experience food things thanks to the fans who watched her grow up and encouraged her.
Umji expresses how thankful she is for the fans to have supported her from start to now.
As she embarks on a new journey, Umji assures fans that she will do her best for the fans who are watching her. She thanks the staff and Source Music, who worked hard for GFRIEND, and tells the fans that she loves them.
She also thanks the members who have stayed with her through thick and thin.
Eunha spoke about the past six years, saying that it is the most beautiful time of her life. She states she is so lucky to have fans who give them strength through their cheers and support despite how she is lacking.
She often wonders if she deserves the love BUDDYs give her, but she was able to be happy and shine thanks to the fans.
To the BUDDYs she will love for the rest of her life, she hopes that they will live their life full of smiles. She thanks the fans for their support and asks them to stay happy and healthy. She states she will work hard to show the fans her singing again and repay the love and support fans have given her.
She also adds that up until now, this has been GFRIEND's Eunha.
Yerin's letter notes that she is leaving Source Music, her home, from when she was 18 to 26. From debuting at 20 until now, she was able to lean on her GFRIEND members like family. It was all because of BUDDYs, who gave them so much love, and her Souce Music family that worked hard for the group.
She states that in these past years, she often wondered if these six years were real due to how dream-like it is. She received so much love, and though she felt she did not deserve it, she tried to repay all the love with her performances.
She thanks BUDDYs for the support and states that she will continue to work hard and remember these moments in the future.
She thanks the fans for creating such good memories during her 20s and that she loves them.
