Cast Of South Korean TV Show 'Rascal Sons' Still Unpaid 3 Months After Show Was Cancelled: MBC Allegedly Owes Actors $100,000

When the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) program "Rascal Sons" was cancelled in March after a 50-episode run due to low ratings, little did the cast members know their problems were only just beginning.

Some of the "Rascal Sons" actors might have began to suspect something was amiss when production company To Be Enterprise pushed back an estimated $100,000 payday the cast was owed until the after the show's ended and beyond.

"We haven't received our payments from the production company even after the drama was over," one of the actors told the Star News on Friday.

"The amount is about 100 million won [roughly $100,000 US dollars]."

To add to the actors' difficulties, To Be Enterprise's entire staff appears to have vanished, according to the website Soompi.

The company's CEO has reportedly left the country.

"At the moment, all employees have left the company and no one is there," said an anonymous source.

"No one knows where the CEO is right now."

The cast, which included actors Na Moon Hee, Lee Sung Jae, Myung Se Bin, Ryu Soo Young and Seo In Gook is allegedly not alone in being stiffed by To Be Enterprise.

Employees of the public relations firm Red Med have also come forward claiming they are owed money by the production company and can't locate To Be Enterprise's CEO.

"We were introduced to To Be Enterprise's CEO through mutual acquaintances and we started our public relations services for the drama just at its halfway mark," said a Red Med representative.

"Even though our services are complete and it is already June, we have not gotten paid."

Red Med executives admit they were aware the actors on Red Med weren't getting paid.

"We knew that the actors and staff weren't paid either but there was nothing we could do to help," the rep said.

"If we ever get any information on To Be Enterprise or its CEO, we promise to help out and deliver it to everyone else."

MBC execs say they paid To Be Enterprise the $100,000 to distribute to the actors. According to an inside source, they are searching for a solution.

"We have supplied the production company with the settled amount," said an MBC source.

"We need to re-check the situation in order to figure out how to solve this."
