ENHYPEN 'BORDER: Transient' Sets Second Highest 1st Week Sales Record among Foreign Male Artists in History

ENHYPEN now holds the record for the second-highest first-week sales on the Oricon Chart in history among foreign male artists.

On July 13, Universal Music Japan announced that ENHYPEN's "BORDER: Transient" has ranked second on the list of initial sales of first Japanese single albums by foreign male artists.

"BORDER: Transient," also called "BORDER: Hakanai," is the rookie boy group's Japanese debut single released on July 6.

ENHYPEN BORDER: Transient Attains Second Highest 1st Week Sales among Foreign Male Artists in History

According to Universal Music Japan, ENHYPEN's "BORDER: Transient" has sold a total of 200,424 copies in Japan in its first week (from July 5 to 12).

This first-week sales figure of "BORDER: Hakanai" is the second-highest in history among the first single albums by foreign male artists.

The all-time highest first-week sales record was set by SEVENTEEN's "Happy Ending," which was released in May 2019. A total of 254,877 copies were sold from May 29 to June 4.

ENHYPEN's "BORDER: Transient" topped the Oricon Daily Chart (for single albums) for seven consecutive days after its release. It also ranked No. 1 on the weekly chart dated July 19.

ENHYPEN is now the fifth foreign male act in history to debut at No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart with their first Japanese single album.

The first four foreign male artists to do so are Jang Keun Suk with "Let Me Cry" (2011), EXO with "Love Me Right" (2015), iKON with "DUMB & DUMBER" (2016), and Stray Kids with "TOP" (2020).

In addition to this, ENHYPEN has joined IZ*ONE as the only fourth-generation K-pop group in history to sell more than 200,000 copies of their single album in the first week.

"BORDER: Hakanai" is also now the best-selling Japanese debut single album by a K-pop boy group, surpassing EXO's "Love Me Right" with 197,008 cumulative copies sold.

ENHYPEN Tops Billboard Japan Top Single Sales + Re-Enters Oricon Album Chart

Apart from the Oricon Weekly Chart, ENHYPEN's "BORDER: Transient" also placed No. 1 on the latest Billboard Japan Top Single Sales chart.

For the week ending on July 11, "BORDER: Hakanai" ranked first with 236,229 copies sold. It is the only album by a K-pop group inside the Top 5 of the Billboard Japan chart.

Furthermore, ENHYPEN has re-entered the Oricon Weekly Album Chart with their two Korean albums.

On the Oricon Chart dated July 19, ENHYPEN's "BORDER: CARNIVAL" has re-entered at No. 19 with 1,239 copies. The album has now sold a total of 114,396 copies in Japan as of the second week of July 2021.

"BORDER: CARNIVAL" has now spent 11 non-consecutive weeks on the weekly chart. Previously, the album peaked at No. 1.

ENHYPEN's "BORDER: DAY ONE" placed No. 43 on the Oricon Chart with 683 copies. A total of 110,722 copies have been sold in Japan as of the second week of July 2021.

"BORDER: DAY ONE" has ranked on the weekly chart for 32 non-consecutive weeks. The album's highest peak is No. 2.
