Don't Call It A Comeback!

The Lunar New Year holiday stopped the overflow of comeback in the Korean music industry temporarily. Now that the holidays have concluded there will be a renewal abundance of comebacks.

For example, Big Bang has already started to get the ball rolling on their long awaited comeback. Right before the holidays started, YG Entertainment, Big Bang’s representation, posted a video entitled, “Big Bang is Coming” on their homepage. Originally, Big Bang was supposed to make their unheralded return to the Korean music industry at the end of February, but whispers of an earlier comeback has the rest of the industry on edge, holding their breath apprehensively.

Another example would be 4Minute, who were planning a comeback in February. 4Minute is another group who was forced to change their release date. They were scheduled to make their comeback in January, but due to elements outside of their control were forced to push their release date to late February. 4Minute is best known in the music world for their ‘Mirror, Mirror’ concept, which was made last year. They are planning another concept that is sure to have the music world on tilt.

February will be a busy month as EXO, SM Entertainment’s first new group since SHINee, is rumored to be making their debut mid-February. EXO is said to have a unique combination of TVXQ’s charisma along with SHINee’s swagger appeal, which if is the case other artists should be on alert. They will be making their debut simultaneously in Korea and China.

Established singers who belong to smaller companies will also be trying to make a bigger name for themselves this year. For example, Dal Shabet has decided they will be switching it up and will be going for a sexier image this year. They are slated to be releasing a song entitled, ‘Hit U’, on January 26th. This is set to be a busy day in the Korean music industry as Secret’s TS Entertainment will be debuting their highly anticipated 6-member boy group B.A.P.’s ‘Warrior’. Last but not least, BEAST will be releasing a single digitally on the 26th, which will be titled ‘I Knew It.’

Brown Eyed Girls’ Miryo will be following up shortly after with her solo debut, which will be released February 1st.

Se7en, who recently just released a single in Japan, will be planning a comeback for a date to be named later.

Fans should also look out for A Pink, SuperStar K, John Park, and 2AM to be making a splash in the Korean music industry in February as well.
