BTS Receives 5 More Streaming Certifications from RIAJ, Has the Most among K-pop Acts

BTS has received five more streaming certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), and they are now the K-pop artist with most of these certifications.

On July 28, RIAJ officially announced that five BTS songs had earned streaming certifications for successfully reaching a certain number of streams in Japan.

According to RIAJ's latest certification system for online streaming, a song will be certified silver after reaching 30 million streams, gold at 50 million, platinum at 100 million, and diamond at 500 million.

BTS Obtains Five More RIAJ Streaming Certifications, Has the Most among K-pop Artists

The Recording Industry Association of Japan revealed that BTS achieved various streaming certifications for June 2021, not only silver and gold but also platinum.

The first one is BTS's "I NEED U" (April 2015) has scored 30 million streams in Japan, thus, earning a silver streaming certification.

Next are three BTS songs that have been certified gold by RIAJ after hitting 50 million streams. These are "Film Out," "IDOL," and "Butter."

Remarkably, BTS's "Butter" becomes the fastest song by a foreign artist to gain a gold RIAJ streaming certification.

Lastly, BTS's "Boy With Luv" has accumulated 100 million streams, so this means the song has received a platinum streaming certification.

"Boy With Luv" becomes the boy group's third song to be certified gold in Japan, following "Dynamite" and "Stay Gold."

Overall, BTS now has a total of 20 RIAJ streaming certifications, becoming the first-ever K-pop artist to do so. This makes them the Korean act with the most streaming certifications to date.

BTS has surpassed TWICE, which currently has 16 RIAJ streaming certifications, with three more new ones.

On BTS's list of RIAJ streaming certifications, three songs are certified platinum, eight songs are certified gold, and nine songs are certified silver.

BTS Occupies First Three Spots on This Week's Oricon Streaming Chart

In other news, BTS continues to dominate the first three places on the Oricon Chart for the streaming category. The counting period started from July 19 to 25.

On the Oricon Streaming Chart, dated Aug. 2, BTS's "Dynamite" sits at No. 3 with a total of 7,008,783 streams.

BTS's "Butter" took the No. 2 place with 13,423,093 streams, while BTS's "Permission to Dance" ranked first with 15,578,772 streams.

This is the second consecutive week that BTS has occupied the Top 3 positions on the Oricon Streaming Chart with the same songs.

In addition to this, BTS's "Butter" has now spent 10 weeks in a row on Oricon's streaming chart. For each entry, the track has more than 10 million streams.

"Butter" now ties with "Homura" by Japanese singer LiSA as the only song in the Oricon Chart history to rank for 10 weeks.

Apart from the Oricon Chart, "Permission to Dance," "Butter," and "Dynamite" also constantly rank high on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.

For the week ending on July 31, a total of seven BTS songs are charting on Japan Hot 100.

Among the tracks, "Permission to Dance" ranked No. 1, "Butter" placed No. 3, and "Dynamite" grabbed No. 9.
