aespa 'Savage' Attains Third Highest First-Day Sales on Hanteo among Girl Group Albums This 2021
aespa is back with their mini-album "Savage," and they have earned the record for the third-highest first-day sales on Hanteo among the albums released by girl groups this 2021.
On Oct. 5, SM Entertainment's new girl group made their highly-anticipated comeback with "Savage," which is their first mini-album since their debut.
aespa's "Savage" includes six songs including the title track of the same name, plus five B-sides.
aespa Savage Now Holds the Third Highest First-Day Sales Record on Hanteo among 2021 Girl Group Albums
As of 2:20 p.m. KST on Oct. 5, roughly three hours before aespa's comeback, "Savage" already sold more than 2,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart.
An hour later, aespa's first mini-album saw 11 times increase in its first-day sales on Hanteo as it reached over 22,000 copies sold.

At 4:20 p.m. KST, aespa's "Savage" eventually surpassed 100,000 copies sold on the Hanteo Chart, a total of 112,403 copies to be exact.
aespa becomes the second fourth-generation girl group in history to record 100,000 copies in its first-day sales on Hanteo, following IZ*ONE.
The quartet also becomes the sixth girl group in history to surpass 100,000 copies sold on the first day of the album's release, after IZ*ONE, TWICE, BLACKPINK, MAMAMOO, and Red Velvet.

At the end of the first day of sales, aespa's "Savage" sold a total of 147,195 copies. This is the third-highest first-day sales on Hanteo among girl groups this year.
"Savage" is now behind Red Velvet's "Queendom" (which sold 150,623 copies) and TWICE's "Taste of Love" (which sold 180,236 copies).
These three are the only girl group albums that have sold over 100,000 copies this year, so far.
In addition to this, aespa's first mini-album has now claimed the No. 4 spot on the list of best-selling debut/first albums by girl groups on Hanteo.
With over 145,000 copies sold on the first day, aespa's "Savage" surpassed TWICE's "The Story Begins," which only sold over 90,000 copies at the time it was released.
Notably, aespa's "Savage" has obtained the highest first-day sales on Hanteo among the debut albums by girl groups in history.

In other news, aespa's first mini-album and its title track are also performing well on music charts, particularly domestic and iTunes charts.

In particular, "Savage" becomes the first song by a female artist to reach No. 1 on MelOn Top 100 chart since the new system was launched.
It is also the fastest song to top the MelOn chart since its reform, doing so in only five hours.
aespa's "Savage" is also the fastest girl group song this 2021 to chart within the Top 10 of the FLO chart, achieving the feat in only nine hours.
Regarding its debuts on Korean music charts, "Savage" entered at No. 1 on Bugs, No. 4 on MelOn, and No. 5 on Genie.
Over on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, "Savage" becomes the first debut album by a fourth-generation girl group to score the No. 1 place.
For the overall record, including debut albums by female artists (solo, unit, and group), aespa's "Savage" becomes the sixth debut album to obtain the milestone.
The first five debut albums by a female artist to rank first on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart are BLACKPINK's "SQUARE ONE," Hwasa's "Maria," Irene & Seulgi's "Monster," Wendy's "Like Water," and Jeon Soyeon's "Windy."
