Cue the Man of Steel Trailer Music, `Man of Steel’ Sequel Already in Motion

The power of the sequel in Hollwood is more powerful than a locomotive. Warner Bros. launched production on a sequel to “Man of Steel” faster than a speeding bullet. “Man of Steel” opened, no, it hasn’t even opened yet. And Warner Brothers has already started the sequel. I haven’t even read the reviews. Oh yeah, I said I did, and I will, but still. According to published reports Warner Bros. is so sure it’s got a hit with the new Superman clone, they started working on the follow-up.

The Superman franchise gets resuscitated every couple years, the latest director to put his stamp on it is Zack Snyder. “Man of Steel” will open in the United States and United Kingdom on Friday. Snyder will be working with screenwriter David S. Goyer on part two. The film is being fast-tracked into production. So fast it’ll probably be written by the time you finish this article. I’m talking Superman-fast. Christopher Nolan, the director of “The Dark Knight Rises,” may have less to do this time around. Henry Cavill will again play Kal-El.

It's unclear how much involvement "The Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan produced and co-wrote the story for "Man of Steel." Nolan is currently working on the film "Interstellar."

Besides the sequel to “Man of Steel,” there has been speculation that David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay for an upcoming "Justice League" film. Superman heads that crime-fighting organization.

Fandango.com's Dave Karger predicted on the Today show, "I don't think 'Man of Steel' can approach what 'Iron Man' made in its first weekend, which was $175 million, but I think a $100 million opening for 'Man of Steel' is not out of the question at all."
