Kim Bum Soo Hospitalized After Injuring His Leg On The Set Of 'Barefoot Friends': Singer Cancels All TV And Radio Appearances

South Korean soul and R&B singer Kim Bum Soo was forced to cancel a scheduled appearance on Thursday's episode of the Seoul Broadcasting System program "Barefoot Friends," after injuring his leg on Monday.

The 34-year-old singer was preparing to shoot a scene filming a scene for the television reality show in an indoor swimming pool in South Korea's North Gyeonsang Province, when he sustained the injury.

"Kim Bum Soo has not fully recovered from his leg injury from 'Barefoot Friends,'" the singer's representative told Star News.

"It does not look like he can participate in the June 14 ['Barefoot Friends'] taping."

Kim Bum Soo is currently still hospitalized for his injuries, according to the website Soompi.

"A release date [from the hospital] has not been set yet," the star's rep said. "He will be able to return to the TV programs once his leg makes a full recovery."

Kim also cancelled his scheduled radio appearances on "Kim Bum Soo's Music Plaza," because of the injury.

Substitute hosts included musicians Jo Jung Chi and Harim on Tuesday and singer Park Ji Yoon on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a spokesman for Kim's talent agency told the website allkpop that although they were not yet sure of the severity of the injury, the singer had twisted his ankle and done what appeared to be serious damage to his knee.

"We are currently looking into his exact condition," the agency spokesperson said.

"It has been revealed that his cruciate ligaments have been damaged, and we are currently waiting for the results."

According to the website, the singer injured his leg while jumping on a trampoline.

Kim was reportedly determined to continue filming with his injuries.

"Because this is Kim Bum Soo's first variety show, he had a lot of determination," the spokesperson said.

"This incident was also partly caused by his ambition to be a helpful part of the program. Kim Bum Soo kept asking if he could continue filming following his injury, showing his persistence."

Allkpop reader Aardbei sees Kim's injury as part of a trend.

"Variety shows in Korea are quite dangerous," Aardbei wrote on Tuesday. "[First] Kim Soo Ro on 'Real Men,' now him!"

Actor Kim Soo Ro injured his shoulder back in May while shooting a training sequence for the South Korean television program "Real Men."

"Even though he's injured, he's back on set to film," the show's producers said of Kim Soo Ro shortly following the injury. "He's still filming."
