Label Of Nine Muses Singer Kyung Ri Sues Man Who Allegedly Sexually Harassed Her On Twitter

The record label of K-pop girl group Nine Muses is suing a man who allegedly sexually harassed band member Kyung Ri in a series of obscene Twitter posts.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday with the Seoul Western District Prosecutor's Office in Seoul, South Korea.

"On June 13 we sued the netizen who had been harassing Kyung Ri with obscene comments," a representative for Nine Muses told the website Soompi.

A spokesperson for Nine Muses's label Star Empire Entertainment confirmed the lawsuit.

"We have filed charges with Seoul Mapo Police Agency on June 13, against a netizen who had used sexual hate comments against Kyungri on Twitter," the spokesperson told the Korea Star Daily.

"We will be filing the lawsuit under the violation of law on IT use and information protection act."

The alleged violations also include improper use of a digital information network, according to the publication 10Asia

The Twitter harassment began on June for Nine Muses singer Kyung Ri.

At first the star tried to plead with the obscene tweeter.

"Please come to your senses," Kyung Ri, whose real name is Park Kyungri, wrote in a June 4 tweet.

Yet, the obscene online comments allegedly continued.

A few days later, a Star Empire Entertainment rep issued a stern warning to Kyung's Internet tormentor.

"We are demanding that he cease his sexual and malicious comments against Nine Muses' Kyung Ri, and delete all comments," the Star Empire statement read.

"We also demand that he make an official apology in person and in public. If he does not meet our demands, we will sue."

Nine Muses will reportedly take a break from performing so Kyung Ri can prepare for the court case and take a break from the spotlight.

The Twitter account of the man accused of sexually harassing the star has reportedly been frozen, and he has not responded to the allegations.

"The police are currently investigating the case," the Star Empire rep said.

"The vulgarity was deemed so over the top that others have said that we should immediately take legal measures. Kyung Ri has really been hurt throughout this whole incident. We will do our very best to ensure that the culprit gets the appropriate punishment through law."

Nine Muses released an EP called "Wild" last month.
