Celebrities and Social Network Sites 'Hate It And Love It'

There has been several occasions in which personal SNS criticisms of celebrities snowballed into a hot potato of entertainment news within several hours.

This week, comedian Im Jong Hyuk posted a criticism of MBLAQ on his Facebook account, stating that some members of the idol group acted like super stars and made working with them incredibly difficult. The Facebook post spread across the Internet at viral rates and became an instant hot issue of controversy involving a famous K-pop artist group.

Two days later, the comedian wrote again on Facebook, offering a word of apology for his misunderstanding and carelessness that resulted in hurt feelings he did not intend to cause.

Whatever the truth was, the public's image of MBLAQ has been affected, even if it is just as little as a small seed of doubt now planted in the back of everyone's minds.

A similar event occurred in April when a composer by the name of G. Gorilla opened fire at T-ARA N4's lyrics in "Country Diary." Again, G. Gorilla quickly retracted the harsh words and offered an apology.

SNS like Twitter and Facebook have brought our celebrities much closer to us by opening up a channel of conversation that previously did not exist. But with the good comes the bad, such as the incredible speed with which rumors spread and forever tarnish one's reputation. Unfortunately, we can't only have the best of both worlds. So we just learn to love it and hate it at the same time.
