Artists Baek Ji Young and Nam Gyuri will be compensated for a plastic surgeon's violation of publicity rights in his illegal use of the stars' photos in advertising his practice.

On June 24, it was reported that the court has ruled a $5,000 of payment by the plastic surgeon to Baej Ji Young and Nam Gyuri.

The judge stated that the associates at the plastic surgery clinic used the celebrities' photos on their blogs in a deliberate attempt to market and advertise the clinic without proper consent of the public figures. As such, Baek Ji Young and Nam Gyuri's general value as advertising models have taken a hit.

The right of publicity applies to well-known public figures and refers to their ownership of their images.

On June 16, however, actor Jang Dong Gun and a group of celebrities lost a similar lawsuit that was filed against a plastic surgeon for using their photos without permission, citing that such use has driven up the traffic to his website and linked the celebrities to plastic surgeries by association.
