CNBLUE Lee Jungshin Stars In New Drama 'Blade and Flower', Premieres on KBS

CNBLUE members have been experiencing super success as musicians since their powerful debut over three years ago. Even before his debut with the band, lead singer Jung Yonghwa was bitten by the acting bug and was cast to play a lead role in the Internationally popular drama, 'You're Beautiful'. Since then CNBLUE members have one by one added 'Actor' to their resume, each starring in popular dramas such as 'Heartstrings', 'My Husband's Got A Family', 'A Gentleman's Dignity', and bassist Lee Jungshin's previous hit drama 'My Daughter Seoyoung', making CNBLUE the first 'Idol' group to have all members successfully transition into acting.

Recently, Lee Jungshin announced through his managing label FNC Entertainment, that he had accepted a role in the new and highly anticipated KBS drama, 'Blade and Petal' (also known as 'Sword and Flower'). The new drama starring Uhm Tae-woong as Yeon Choong and Kim Ok-bin as Princess Mu-young made its small-tube premiere on July 3rd. Here's the official description: "The historical drama takes place in the twilight years of Goguryeo. King Yeongnyu [Kim Yeong-cheol] plots to kill military general Yeon Gaesomun (Choi Min-soo), whose power and influence are rapidly overtaking the throne's. But Yeon Gaesomun discovers the plot and kills those involved, including the king, and becomes a military dictator. Yeongnyu's daughter, the princess Mu-young vows to avenge her father's death, but she falls in love with her enemy's son." 'Siwoo', Lee Jungshin's character, is a master swordsman and the youngest of the princess's bodyguards. He is cold to others except Mu-young, whom he loves and follows around like a shadow to protect her.

However, Jungshin who happens to be CNBLUE's maknae (youngest member) stated at the drama’s press conference held in Seoul on July 1, that his fellow band mates have concerns about his ability to juggle his acting along with CNBLUE's current hectic schedule, “We are currently going on a world tour, and we have a tour in Japan. The schedules for drama filming will overlap. They are concerned for my health, that I won’t be able to eat right and will have no time to rest.”  Their concerns are well justified as Jungshin himself admitted to losing weight and suffering from a severe cold during filming for 'My Daughter Seoyoung' last year.

Despite the obvious concerns for their 'little brother', we're sure CNBLUE members and their BOICE (CNBLUE Fans) will remain supportive and encouraging to the budding actor on his current role and his musical obligations.

The evening drama 'Blade and Petal' airs on KBS2 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:55 pm beginning July 3, 2013.
