Yang Hyun Suk Playing Favorites? Does The Head Of YG Entertainment Give Special Treatment To Certain Artists?

Already a lot has happened within the YG Family this year.  Some things have been really great - Psy's "Gentleman" breaking new records, G-Dragon's world tour, CL's solo debut, Lee Hi's chart-topping album, and Akdong Musician signing with the label.

Other things have not been so good - the disappointing end to the SuPearls, continuous delays in comeback schedules, and Se7en's massage parlor scandal, just to name a few.

The latest news has been that veteran singer Gummy's contract has ended with YG Entertainment. She is reportedly in talks with other labels at the moment, but no decision has been made as to where she will go or what she will do.

This news, of course, comes after YG announced in the wake of scandal, that Se7en's contract with the label had also ended instead of responding to the negative press and sticking up for their 'family.'

Both Gummy and Se7en were two of the most seasoned artists in the YG Family, so the news about both comes as a shock to many fans.

We are forced to ask ourselves, what the heck is going on in that company? Some artists seem to be getting all the attention, while others are continually brushed to the side.

Is Yang Hyun Suk playing favorites?

Just look what happened earlier this year with the girl group the SuPearls. Yang Hyun Suk added Lee Hi to the group, trained them in preparation for debut, then suddenly Lee Hi was going solo and the other girls were put in the rubbish bin.

Sure, musically it was probably a good idea - Lee Hi has proven her voice deserves to stand on its own - but it is hard not to feel bad for the other gals. And the situation does not help the agency's public image.

G-Dragon, too. Yes, he is popular and talented - a genius even - but what about the other members of Big Bang?

Taeyang will finally be making his long-overdue solo comeback later this year, but the project had been pushed to the sidelines for far too long (two years!) in order to make room for G-Dragon.

Daesung also is in the midst of Japan promotions for his new single there, but marketing for it is severely lacking, especially considering how much press and attention had been directed toward the group's frontman who just finished up a dome tour in the country.

Not to mention the absolute lack of news regarding TOP or Seungri. What are they up to? Suddenly it has been announced that Seungri is making a comeback this month, but this is the first news we have heard of it - who knew he was working on something? And why no solo projects in the works for TOP?

Yang Hyun Suk even admitted earlier this year that he likes G-Dragon the most.  In an interview with OSEN in late March of this year, the YG CEO is quoted as saying, "Out of everyone in the YG Family, the member who I treasure and love the most is G-Dragon."

For the record, he did say it in response to some very kind words the singer has said about him on national television, but Yang Hyun Suk still said it, and that has got to bum the other artists out at least a little.

And now YG Entertainment is preparing to debut a new boy band, meanwhile ditching their veteran singers like Gummy and Se7en in favor of a group of rugrats.

It makes us wonder, if it were not for "Gangnam Style," would old man Psy have gotten the boot as well? Honestly though, who even knew he was signed under the label until he accidentally became an international superstar?

Opting for a younger image may be a good business tactic, especially in the increasingly competitive Korean music industry, but it could also be done with a little more tact.

For a man who is always puffing out his chest insisting on his company being a family, Yang Hyun Suk seems to be showing favoritism among his 'children.'
