Mnet '20's Choice' Awards Winners: Lee Hyori, Roy Kim, Shinhwa Come Out On Top

Mnet held the 20's Choice Awards on July 18 where they celebrate the Korean stars who have been the most influential on the 20's generation this year.

It was a joyous occasion for those who participated in and received awards at this year's event which included high-energy performances and touching moments.

Lee Hyori was the big winner this year, taking home the top award, 'Icon of the 20's', at the televised event. The honor signifies her as the most influential celebrity for people in their twenties. She was granted the award for her contributions to music and fashion as well as her continuing efforts in animal rights activism.

On stage after accepting the prize, she yelled, "I'm getting married!" to the crowd who cheered and applauded in congratulations.

Many other popular stars were awarded high honors at the '20's Choice' Awards including 2NE1 leader CL who was acknowledged for her trendsetting style. She also took to the stage at the event for a performance of her recent solo single "The Baddest Female."

'Booming Star' awards were presented to talented singer-songwriter Roy Kim, whose popularity continues to rise after the release of his hit single "Bom Bom Bom," and rookie actress Ha Yeon-soo for her breakout role in the current drama Monstar.

Daybreak was named the 'HOT Band' for the 20's generation and performed a tribute stage to Cho Yong Pil alongside Roy Kim. The veteran singer was then awarded '20's Record' for his Hello album that swept the charts earlier this year. The elder singer, however, was not able to attend the event in person.

INFINITE scored the title '20's Best Touring Artist' and SISTAR secured '20's Online Music' for their recent chart-topping song "Give it to Me."

Mature idols Shinhwa nabbed two awards on Thursday night for '20's Voice' and '20's Mwave Global Star' and both Lee Hyori and Roy Kim were given a second award for '20's Popular on the Blue Carpet' and '20's HOT Cover Music,' respectively.

After receiving their award for '20's Performance,' the members of popular idol group SHINee surprised their youngest member Taemin with a birthday cake and a thoughtful rendition of the birthday song. July 18 also marked the singer's twentieth birthday.

The whole event was a good mix of old talents and fresh newcomers and celebrated some of the greatest and most influential contributions to the Korean entertainment industry.
