J. Cole ‘Born Sinner’ Album And ‘Power Trip’ Single Go Platinum, Moves Up To No. 19; Music Video Features Miguel Murder [VIDEO]

J. Cole's album "Born Sinner" and his single "Power Trip," featuring Miguel, went platinum this week. "Power Trip" moved up to its peak spot at No. 19 on the Hot 100 chart, from its previous position of No. 21, and has a shocking music video to go along with it.

J. Cole's single "Power Trip" on the "Born Sinner" album went platinum this week, making it his second platinum single, after "Work Out." According to BET, "Power Trip" was certified by RIAA for at least a million digital units pushed, on July 15.

"Born Sinner" also went platinum this week, jumping from the No. 2 spot on Billboard 200 album chart to No. 1. "Power Trip," the lead single, also moved up, from No. 21 to No. 19 on the Hot 100 chart.

The music video for "Power Trip" shocked fans, as it features the murder of the character Miguel plays in the clip. Despite this, Miguel was completely on board with Cole's concept for the video, MTV reports. Great minds think alike!

Cole told MTV News: "I was really hype explaining it to him, and after I tell him the concept I say, 'I want you to be the boyfriend, getting murdered,' and he was just like 'It's crazy you say that because right as you were telling me the story, [I] thought I should be the boyfriend, I should be the one getting killed,'" he said.

"So he was down for it, but it just took me to have that creative conversation with him," he added.

"Born Sinner" has also made Billboard history: with Jay-Z's debut of "Magna Carta Holy Grail," this is the first time that rap albums have held the top spots for four consecutive weeks. The other albums include those by Wale and Kanye West.
