Death Of 'Faith' Director Kim Jong Hak Officially Ruled A Suicide: 'The Body Will Not Be Autopsied' Local Police Official Says

The death of producer and director Kim Jong Hak has officially been ruled a suicide, according to the entertainment website Soompi.

The 61-year-old Kim's body was discovered on Wednesday morning, in the bathroom of the small apartment he rented in South Korea's Gyeong-gi Province, along with coal that had already been burned and a four-page suicide note.

"I am sorry to my family," part of the director's suicide note reportedly read.

His bathroom door had reportedly been sealed up with tape.

"We couldn't find any evidence of homicide in Kim Jong Hak's case, and the conclusion has been made that his death was a suicide," said a Gyeong-gi Bundang police official. "The case will be closed [Wednesday], and the body will be not be autopsied."

Kim, who produced the hit South Korean television dramas "Detective Inspector," "Sandglass" and "Faith," had been extradited from China earlier this month after he was sued for allegedly stealing production funds and refusing to pay money he owed the "Faith" cast and crew.

Although the case was still pending, South Korean authorities had barred the director from leaving the country.

Kim began working for South Korean television station Munhwa Broadcasting Company in 1977.

Back in 2009, Variety Magazine called him "one of the most acclaimed and influential TV directors in Korea for more than 30 years."

According to a post "Faith" writer Song Ji Na put up on her website following news of Kim's death, actress Kim Hee Sun is distraught over her role in the lawsuit that could have driven the director to take his own life.

"Kim Hee Sun put her name on the complaint because the unknown actors and staff said they couldn't do it on their own and needed the help of someone more famous," Song's post read.

"It wasn't against the director but the production company. But Kim Hee Sun is crying and crying because of that. Please don't do that."

The wake for Kim Jong Hak is taking place at the Asan Hospital in Seoul and will continue through Thursday.

Kim See Hun has reportedly attended to show her respects.

Other high-profile actors attending the wake include Go Hyun Jung, Jo In Sung, Lee Jung Jae, Chae Si Ra, and Choi Min Soo.

Kim is to be buried at Sungnam Youngsaengwon Memorial Park.
