Tara Mishra Exotic Dancer Is a Millionaire Again; Judge Orders Nebraska Cops to Give Her Money Back with Interest (Video)

Tara Mishra, an exotic dancer, saved over a million bucks after fifteen years of stripping. Nebraska cops took that money at a traffic stop and assumed Tara Mishra earned it from selling drugs. A federal judge ordered it given back to the exotic dancer, Tara Mishra, with interest.

Exotic dancer Tara Mishra had been the money she made from fifteen years of stripping to open a night club with two of her friends. Tara Mishra was federally granted the return of over $1 million in cash that was confiscated by Nebraska officers at a traffic stop. Mishra filed a claim to get the money back, but was told she had no legal standing.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon said Tara Mishra was going to use the million to get out of stripping. In March 2012,Tara Mishra gave the money to her friends, Rajesh and Marina Dheri of Montville, N.J., with plans to open a nightclub. The Dheris later stopped for speeding in Nebraska while on a road trip to Chicago. Nebraska state cops found the money wrapped in $10,000 bundes in the trunk of their car. A Nebraska state trooper found the cash and took Marina and Rajesh Dheri into custody suspecting the million was drug money. The cops couldn’t find any evidence of drug activity. A K-9 analysis of the money found only trace amounts of illegal drugs. The Dheris were released later.

Judge Joseph Bataillon believed Tara Mishra’s claim that it was startup money and ordered the state of Nebraska to pay the exotic dancer $1,074,000 with interest in cash or a check. The judge ruled that exotic dancer Tara Mishra is entitled to her life savings. Tara Mishra, 33, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., started saving money she made from stripping when she was 18. In fifteen years she saved more than $1 million.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon wrote in his opinion last week, "The government failed to show a substantial connection between drugs and the money. The dog sniff is inconsequential… The court finds the Mishras' story is credible… Ms. Mishra did have control over the money and directed the Dheris to deliver the money to New Jersey for the purchase of the business. (The government) left too many unanswered questions and had a general failure of proof in this case."

Tara Mishra and her friends can now open that nightclub.
