Ankle Injury Can't Keep Ailee From Breaking Into The Number 1 Spot On The Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 With 'U&I'

Despite being forced to halt her promotional activities after injuring her ankle twice this month in rehearsals, solo artist Ailee sits at the top of the K-Pop Hot 100 this week, scoring the number one spot this week with her horn-infused new single "U&I."

Ailee fought through a major leg injury last week sustained in rehearsal to perform the Korean Broadcasting System program "Music Bank" on the release date of her new album "A's Doll House," only to injure herself onstage again while preparing for another appearance on the show.

"U&I" debuted on the Billboard K-pop chart last week at number three.

After two weeks at the top of the charts, Davichi's "Missing You Today" drops from number one to number six in its third week.

"NoNoNo" by girl group Apink jumped up two places this week into the number two spot on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100.

Written by Shinsadong Tiger, the visually striking video for "NoNoNo," directed Zany Bros., could have played a role in the song's climb up the charts.

Infinite's new song "Destiny" made a massive jump in its second week on the Billboard K-pop chart.

The seven-piece boy band's new single is currently at number three after debuting last week at number 43.

The group also took earned the number one spot on South Korean music network Mnet's "M!Countdown" this week, narrowly beating out Ailee's "U&I."

And another major chart mover this week is the song "It's Raining" by Kang Seung Yoon.

One of YG Entertainment's newest releases, "It's Raining" is Kang's first song after being eliminated from the television singing competition "Superstar K2" three years ago.

And rounding out the Billboard K-pop top five, BEAST's "Shadow" debuted at number five.

Featuring a darkly futuristic video and an eerie musical backdrop, "Shadow," like the rest of the songs on the bands new album, "Hard to Love, How to Love" is a creative step forward for the band.

Billboard Magazines's Jeff Benjamin agrees.

"Four years into their career, the sextet has crafted an LP that highlights the range of their ability," Benjamin wrote in a glowing review of the group's new album published on Wednesday.

"From high-energy, genre-twisting bangers to the straightforward, vocally impressive ballads, Beast continues to be one of most-impressive K-pop acts out there."
