Monty Python reunion movie has been batted around for a while, but it is stalled. The surviving cast of the British sketch comedy troupe, Monty Python, have gotten together for fun times, but not yet for a movie. John Cleese, one of the stars of Monty Python, says he has been waiting on news about the movie.

John Cleese is sad that plans to reunite the Monty Python troupe have been stalled. Cleese says that the Monty Python gang haven’t anything regarding the movie in over a year. John Cleese says he and fellow Monty Pytons, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones were set to star in an animated film that would be directed by Gilliam.

John Cleese said “The truth is, I don’t think any one of us knows what’s going on. Terry rang us about 18 months ago and said, ‘If we make this movie and I direct it will you do a voice for it?’ As far as I know everyone said yes and that’s the last we heard.”

John Cleese told the LA Times that the Monty Python cast still get together, but they live too far from each other and are so busy with their lives that it is hard to see each other as often as they would like.

Cleese said “It is too difficult geographically. Dear old Mickey Palin is forever travelling. He is always away doing his travel programs. Gilliam is either racing around the world trying to raise money or at film festivals shooting something. He loves directing films. I don’t think any one of us knows what’s going on. Terry rang us about 18 months ago and that’s the last we heard Jonesie is always doing an extraordinary mixture of things. A few years ago he was in Lisbon directing an opera about carpet cleaners. Eric [Idle] is very much based in LA. “We only get together occasionally. It’s fun when we do. We always say we really laugh more when we are together than any other time.”
