MTV VMAs 2013: Nominees, Performances and Reunion Rumors; What Surprises Are in Store This Year?

MTV VMAs 2013 airs live tomorrow night. The show will mark the tenth anniversary of the kiss seen around the world when Madonna anointed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera into music superstardom with a pair of hot French kisses.

Every year the MTV VMAs aim for surprises among the Moonman trophies they hand out. For the MTV VMAs 2013, the awards show will feature Lady Gaga’s premiere live performance of her new single “Applause” and there is a rumor that NSYNC will be reuniting.

The MTV VMAs will be held in New York this year, beaming live from the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Justin Timberlake will be on hand to get the the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award from Brooklyn’s own Jimmy Fallon. At past MTV VMAs the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award was given to Madonna, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Britney Spears.

The MTV VMAs is expected to open with Lady Gaga performing her new single, "Applause." Lady Gaga told New York City radio station Z-100, "I am opening the show. Well, yes, I'm dancing and what you see in the video is where I am now with my body. I'm dancing 'til my feet bleed every day to make sure I give the fans a performance that they won't forget."

Also appearing at the MTV VMAs 2013 will be Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West and Drake. The MTV VMAs 2013 will close with Katy Perry performing her new single, "Roar," that will be on her eagerly anticipated upcoming album, "Prism," which is set to drop on Oct. 22.

Presenters at the MTV VMAs 2013 will include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jared Leto, Kevin Hart, Emeli Sande and A$AP Rocky. During the MTV VMAs pre-show, MTV will air the movie trailer for "Divergent."

Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis top MTV VMAs 2013 nominations with six bids for moonmen each. Bruno Mars comes in next at four nominations. Robin Thicke, Cyrus and Pink are each up for three moonmen. Taylor Swift, Drake, fun., Calvin Harris, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and first-time VMA nominees Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd and Capital Cities are also in the running.

MTV VMAs are chosen by the fans.

The MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
