Catonsville Shooting: Suspect Remains In Critical Condition; Police Officer Dies While Serving A Warrant:

A Catonsville shooting happened on Wednesday between a crime suspect and a veteran Baltimore police officer. The suspect had allegedly ambushed the police officer, shooting him the officer for a couple of times before getting shot himself, a UPI report stated Wednesday.

According to Baltimore county police, the veteran Baltimore county police officer, Jason Schneider, was doing a warrant on the suspect, searching for him inside a Catonsville Winter Lane house when the suspect suddenly opened fire against the officer, inflicting multiple wound to his body, which caused him his life later on.

Earlier reports stated that though the Baltimore county police officer obtained a lot of gunshot wounds, he was still able to shoot the suspect all the same.

The two were rushed to the same hospital, the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, but apparently the Catonsville police officer died just minutes after arrival while the Catonsville shooting suspect remained critical due to his serious injuries, an Examiner report stated.

"This is particularly hard.... He was a great guy. Can you imagine what he did in 10 years of tactical," Baltimore County Police Chief James Johnson said in an interview for the veteran's death out of the Catonsville shooting incident.

"A terrible loss for Baltimore County," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz commented.

Authorities released an official statement on the Catonsville shooting incident, saying that the veteran police officer was moving room after room in search of the suspect when he was suddenly ambushed as he was turning a corner to one of the rooms. Additionally, the 36-year-old police officer managed to fight back by shooting a few gunshots towards the suspect.

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley had ordered earlier that the state flag be adjusted and flown at half-mast to honor the death of the veteran police officer from the Catonsville shooting incident.

The Examiner stated that officer Schneider had been working in the police force for 13 years now and is a special tactical unit member for the past 10 years. The Catonsville shooting officer was the unit leader of the Baltimore police department.

According to Inquisitr, the Catonsville shooting is just one of the many shootings within the recent weeks, noting that statistics proved earlier that the violent crimes in the community have greatly diminished within the last 5 years.
