Shania Twain New Album Just Needs a Producer; Shades of Lana Del Rey, Sting and Led Zeppelin; Will Shania Twain Lose That Country Twang? (Video)

Shania Twain’s new album just needs the right producer. After ten years away from the recording studio, Shania Twain has a new album in the works.

Country singer Shania Twain says she’s been listening to a lot of non-country music like Robert Plant, from Led Zeppelin, who collaborated with Allison Krause. Shania Twain also says she’s become infatuated with the singer Lana Del Rey and she’s paying very close attention to their production. Does this mean Shania Twain may lose a little of that country twang?

Talking to Rolling Stone, Shania Twain admitted, "This is last year, but I'm really stuck on Lana Del Rey. I've been listening to that one a lot more and kind of stuck on the sound of that record. I really love Raising Sand as well – Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. So that goes to show you how lost I am as far as production direction, because I'm listening to such a broad spectrum. Both of those productions really appeal to me, and the direction that they took – just trying to get ideas for myself."

Shania Twain has the songs. She told Rolling Stone magazine, "I'm pretty much there with my songs, and I'm really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I'm listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match."

Shania Twain just passed her 48th birthday and wants to give herself a gift. Shania Twain wants to find a producer who can bring out the best in the songs she’s got. She wants her new record to be perfect and show her evolution as an artist.

Shania Twain’s last album, “Up!” came out in 2002. She’s been playing shows in Las Vegas, performing a residency at Caesars Palace, where she would like to try out the new material. But what Shania Twain really wants is to get started on her new album soon. Shania Twain’s last album, “Up!” came out in in 2002. Twain admits she feels the pressure to release new music. But Shania Twain wants her new music to be perfect and show showcase how she’s grown as an artist.

Shania Twain may have topped the country charts several times, but she doesn’t want to repeat her past success. Twain told Rolling Stone, “I’m different, I’ve evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don’t want to abandon the root of what I am. There are probably less upbeat songs… I would say it’s more half and half compared to what I would’ve done in the past, where I would’ve leaned more towards mostly up-tempo songs. I still want to remain positive with my lyrics and stay in that mode with my music, because I enjoy uplifting myself, if you will, with my songs. But at the same time I’m going deeper, and I’m being more realistic with my point of view on things.”

Will her time off also affect her live show? Shania Twain’s Las Vegas dates may see the new material before the rest of the world, but it might also see a new live Shania Twain. Asked who she’s movst moved by in liver performance, Shania Twain answers, “Sting I've seen a few times and he really inspired me, in the sense that he breaks the songs down a lot and will take a different approach. He'll take an acoustic approach to them, he'll rearrange them for the live stage. And I thought, `I really admire someone taking the license to do that, owning that. I played around with that a little bit in the show as well, so that was an influence. I really admire artists that are willing to take a different approach and a different angle to their shows. So I did some of that.”
