Big Bang G-Dragon’s 3 Step Approach… Is This the Secret to His Album Success?

Big Bang member G-Dragon, who is a trend leader in music and fashion, is now setting a new trend in music-releasing methods.

G-Dragon released his 2nd album Coup D'etat's 14 tracks across 3 dates, on September 2nd, 5th, and 13th. This is different than the conventional method of releasing the whole album in just one day. G-Dragon's new method of splitting up an album's release is groundbreaking.

On September 2, G-Dragon released Part 1 of his 2nd album. This included his title song "Black" and "Who You" for a total of 5 songs. His songs swept the music charts and promptly took the number 1 spots.

Part 2 included title songs "Crooked" and "Niliria" (GD version) for a total of 7 songs, all of which rose to the top of music charts. "Crooked" took the number 1 spot across 7 different music charts.

Part 3, which is scheduled to be released on September 13, will include "Window" and "Black" (feat. Sky Ferreira), which won't be revealed online. All 14 tracks will be available in an offline album.

This tactic of releasing his album in 3 different parts has been a great success for G-Dragon, as it has given time for the fans to focus on not just a couple hits from the album, but to really take in each part of the album, a few songs at a time.

Of course, a big part of why this is possible is because this is G-Dragon, after all. It's hard to imagine that a rookie artist would be able to pull off the same kind of success as G-Dragon. In fact, it would probably have a detrimental effect on less popular artists.
