G-Dragon Scores 3 Songs In The Billboard K-Pop Top 5, But Yoon Mi Rae's 'Touch Love' Is Still At Number 1

Yoon Mi Rae's "Touch Love" from the soundtrack for the South Korean drama "Master's Sun" remains at number one on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100.

Other than that, the top five all but belongs to G-Dragon.

After an unimpressive debut last week that saw the Big Bang rapper's highest chart ranking song "Who You?" only make it to number 16, G-Dragon has scored three singles in the Billboard K-pop top five, with his new single "Crooked" debuting at number two.

His other top five hits include "Black" featuring Jennie Kim in the number three position on the K-pop chart after debuting last week at number 18 and "Who You?" at number four after debuting at number 16.

For anyone who follows the world of K-Pop, this September has been all about G-Dragon.

The Big Bang frontman's shrewd marketing move of releasing the songs from his double album "Coup d'Etat" part one and part two as singles throughout the month has allowed him garner a huge amount of publicity from around the world.

And G-Dragon seized the moment, releasing music videos for "Crooked," "Coup D'etat" and performing several of his new songs on South Korean television.

Additionally, a clip of the rapper performing "Niliria," a collaboration with hip-hop icon Missy Elliott that the duo premiered onstage at the Los Angeles K-pop festival KCON last month, continues to rack up YouTube views.

A press release posted on the YG Entertainment website on Thursday, cited the variety of songs G-Dragon has performed this month as an innovative career move by the artist.

"G-Dragon is revealing five of the songs from his album on television programs," the record label release stated.

"This is quite different to what other artists do, who normally focus on promoting only their title songs. [He] is drawing much attention with his unique promotion."

And rounding out the top five, is SISTAR singer Hyorin's single "Crazy of You," also from the "Master's Sun" soundtrack.

Written by Ahn Young Min, who previously composed the songs "I Love You" for Girls' Generation singer Kim Taeyeon and "Do You Not Know" for the female duo Davichi, Hyorin's single climbed all the way to number one a couple of weeks ago.

"Crazy of You" was in the number two spot on the Billboard K-pop chart, before G-Dragon stormed into the top five this week.
