Singer John Park, Who Turns 25 Today, Explains Why He Likes To Keep His Apartment Messy

Fans of John Park dreaming of visiting the singer's apartment, might be in for a shock if they actually make it there.

The panel of guests on this week's episode of the South Korean television program "Happy Together" recoiled in horror when the show's producers revealed photos of Park's surprisingly untidy residence.

The singer's living room had clothing strewn about the furniture. His sink was overflowing with dirty dishes.

Although, Park initially blamed the state of his apartment on several visiting friends, the singer admitted that his standards of cleanliness are less than strict, particularly in regards to the dishes.

"[My apartment looks like that] because my friends came over the day before," Park explained.

"I do the dishes when I have no more clean plates left. I think it's more efficient that way."

The Korean-American singer, who turns 25 on Friday, believes that most people are driven into an uncomfortable lifestyle as they seek to keep their homes clean.

"I'm not sure why people live so inconveniently," Park said. "When I leave [stuff] around, it makes me think, 'I'm living comfortably right now.'"

Born in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, Park has found success as a vocalist in both the US and South Korea.

In 2010, he made it to the semifinal round in the ninth season of "American Idol," eventually coming in 20th place. That same year, Park took second place in the Mnet singing competition "Superstar K2."

Although the singer is currently on a hiatus from college to pursue a music career in South Korea, Park has spent his life predominantly in the US.

Back in July, when he was asked about the differences between Korean woman and American woman on the Korean Broadcasting System program "Full House," he claimed ignorance.

"To be honest, I've never dated a Korean woman," the singer said.

"I've dated a Korean-American in the past. But I've never dated a woman who was born and raised here in Korea. From my experience, women who were raised overseas have a lot of pride and don't easily depend on men."

The topic of dating also came up when Park was a guest last week on Munhwa Broadcasting Company's "I Live Alone."

When asked about his personal romantic preferences, the intercontinental star claimed he's not picky.

"I like anyone, as long as they're not married," Park said.
