"Game of Thrones" fans might be ecstatic that Alan Taylor took on the creative direction of "Thor: The Dark World," but actress Natalie Portman revealed her disappointment.

The sequel, "Thor: The Dark World," was suppose to be directed by "Monster" helmer Patty Jenkins, who would've been the first woman to direct a superhero movie. However, the job ultimately went to Taylor of "Game Of Thrones." Portman was looking forward to working with Jenkins.

“I was very upset because Patty [Jenkins] is a wonderful woman,” she told SciFiNow. “I was excited to work with her but I understood why she chose to leave and Alan [Taylor] is really wonderful, so it was bittersweet.”

Since Taylor has expertise in portraying period stuff, he seemed suitable to take charge of the "Thor" sequel.

“To me the defining thing was that Thor is a superhero amongst many superheroes, but the thing that makes him different is the thing that should be featured in the movie. And that is that he’s also a warrior prince from an ancient culture,” said Taylor to SFX.

Although Marvel movies are dominated by the boys, actress Natalie Portman strongly believes female superhero movies are coming soon.

“There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming," said Portman exclusively to SciFiNow.

The actress also added that we can expect a central non-white character to come center stage.

Portman, who plays an astrophysicist and the love interest of the son of Odin in the "Thor" franchise, thinks Marvel's current display of strong women in their films already speaks volumes.

"I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman’," she said.
