What SISTAR Soyu and Mad Clown's Song is About+MV Review

"Stupid in Love" is a duo track from SISTAR's Soyu and Mad Clown. With Soyu's beautiful voice pleading her loved one not to go and Mad Clown's rapping voice telling her he loves her, but has certain circumstances. Finally, the duo's collaboration gave them a trophy on Music Core and are still continuing their reign by being at the top of the Gaon charts. While the song is a beautiful gothic themed music video, falling in love with this duo is up to you. If you love Sistar so much, then it is fine by us. She is a great singer and has a beautiful voice with lots of talent.

As of right now, there is no information on if this two will make a comeback after this. So it looks like this is a catapult to launch Mad Clown and get him known since there are not many people that know this guy. Working with a gorgeous Sistar member will probably get attention and maybe he will work with other female stars in the coming years; so let's see if he goes really far. I mean, let's not say that he will only enjoy this fame once, Mad Clown does have potential due to his Korean rapping skills which can earn him some big points in the Korean music industry.

The song "Stupid in Love" is a typical love song which is almost like Tablo's "Bad" and Taeyang's "Look Only At Me." Lyrics is about a man who loves a woman though is unable to treat her well. Meanwhile for the woman, she knows that the man is not good and that she should leave him; though begs the man to stay anyway. So what is this song telling people? Hopefully the guys in South Korea do not treat women like this. As for you women, please do leave the guys who will do this to you; love as well as make you happy is what a guy should do in real life. With soft instrumentals, Soyu croons and Mad Clown raps uncontrollably about heartbreak as well as love.

The music video is haunting in a beautiful way due to the gothic theme which is really done well. Striking scenes in the music video are when Soyu poses in a room full of black feathers which is almost like K-Pop royalty; plus her face is blank and cold as well.

Best part though is how the filming techniques are in showing the effects of this unequal relationship for both Soyu and Mad Clown which leads to the death of the love relationship. There is the establishment of this unequal relationship between male and female with Soyu grieving over coffins and sitting like K-Pop royalty in a graveyard with black feathers falling over her. For Mad Clown, he sits on a throne which is probably black and red curtains cascading in the background as well as around him.

Another is that the metaphor of death is woven simply around the video by projecting images on the white wall. There are scenes in the music video like Mad Clown sitting in a graveyard when in reality, he is actually leaning against a white wall. Other scenes are black wings springing out of Soyu's back and criss-cross bars being projected over her face. It is both aesthetic, basically like what women might wear to a funeral which is a hat that has something dangling from it. Also, it is grim because it looks like prison bars. All the images and scenes represent what you will see at a funeral, coffin, Mad Clown disintegrating into dust, ashes raining softly in the background; all of these represents a death of a love one.

If you watch this music video and can understand the lyrics, it will make you sad and emotional; though listening to it is another by making you a little cold; especially watching the live performance.

As of right now, the song is doing fairly well in South Korea; will it be memorable is another story because it is not really one that people will be hooked on for too long. Sure Soyu has a beautiful voice and all, but the song itself is not really one that keeps people interested. Review of the song is that people just do not like to hear songs about death; they want something energetic, will make them dance or happy. If it is a ballad, let it not be about death, rather maybe a love or marriage song. Anyway, let's just hope that this two work together again in the future or Mad Clown partners up with another great female artist.

Overall, Soyu and Mad Clown are enjoying their number one spot on the charts. Congratulations to them once again for finally winning a trophy.
