Fleetwood Mac Cancel Tour as John McVie Undergoes Cancer Treatment; Rumours Will Not Hit Down Under

Fleetwood Mac announced that they have canceled the last leg of their current tour so John McVie can get treated for cancer.

Fleetwood Mac canceled the Australia and New Zealand portion of their world tour because bassist John McVie began treatment for cancer.

Fleetwood Mac announced the cancellation on their Facebook page yesterday:

“Fleetwood Mac who has just completed the European leg of their phenomenally successful worldwide tour has announced the cancellation of their upcoming 14 date tour of Australia and New Zealand. John McVie, one of the co founding and original members of Fleetwood Mac is now scheduled to be in treatment for cancer during that period of time. "We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates. We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”

Fleetwood Mac opened their tour a month ago at London's O2 Arena. Christine McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac for the first time since 1998 on the European leg of their tour. Christine McVie and John McVie were married from 1968 until 1977.

Before they kicked off their world your last spring, Fleetwood Mac put out thir first new music in 10 years, The band that started as part of the British Blues Explosion of the late 60s released a four-song EP called, appropriately, “Extended Play.”

In May, Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac’s guitarist, told Rolling Stone magazine "We're doing the best business we've done in 20 years. There seems to be a cyclical re-igniting of interests, and there's certainly a lot more young people out there than three years ago."

There have been rumors that Fleetwood Mac would reissue their hit album “Rumours.”
