Pokemon X And Y Walkthrough: How To Get Shiny Pokemon And Strategies To Finding Shinies

Pokemon X and Y have been released, and one trend that has exploded in attention and popularity is shiny Pokemon, and people are slowly developing a walkthrough to hunting these elusive creatures.

In Pokemon X and Y, trainers and players have developed a sound but still arduous walkthrough to maximizing your chances of finding shiny Pokemon. Here are some basic tips and a walkthrough of finding shinies.

Before starting on your quest to find shiny Pokemon in X and Y, make sure you have the Pokeradar (obtained after the Elite Four from Sycamore's assistant) and plenty of Pokeballs and Max Repels.

To get your Pokeradar loaded you need to walk 50 steps. Then, find a big field without holes in the grass. For this, the purple field on route 5 or the secret garden in the city of the 8th gym work very well.

Walk to the middle of the field and use the Max Repel and the Pokeradar. Grass will begin shaking. Go into the grass and see if it is a Pokemon you want. If not, defeat or catch the Pokemon, and walk 50 steps again to repeat the process.

Here are some basic walkthrough rules about the shaky grass in Pokemon X and Y.

--Don't approache the border of the field.

--Don't go into grass that shakes next to each other.

--Don't go into grass that is next to you.

--Don't go into grass that is only 1 or 2 paces from you. Further away is good.

Normal shaking grass will not yield shiny Pokemon, but fast and loud shaking might, so if the grass patch abides by the rules above, go into it. If there are not fast and loud shaking grass or the chain appears to be broken (using inline skates can do that), load the Pokeradar and walk 50 paces to begin the chain again.

The rate of encountering shiny Pokemon in X and Y go up after 40 encounters, so it is definitely a grind. Also, do not have any eggs with you, as the hatch will disrupt the chain, and you'd have to start over.

Hopefully with this Pokemon X and Y walkthrough, hunting shiny Pokemon will be a slightly easier task!
