Five Korean Horror Movies You Can Watch Online Free For Halloween (Video)

Halloween movies are an annual tradition in America. Here at Kpopstarz.com, we love Halloween as much as the next monster. Just for today Kpop girl groups will be known as Kpop Ghoul Groups. Hollywood horror films are seen all over the world, inspiring works from directors in all countries.

Korean horror movies have also been very influential on American horror. Often overlooked in favor of Japanese horror movies like “Ringu,” which became “The Ring,” Korean films usually have sensual overtones and explore psychological themes.

Korean horror movies get into your head and invade your dreams long after you’ve turned them off. Korea has produced some of the most hypnotic horror, literally. The Korean horror film “Hypnotized” from 2004 and this year’s “The Puppet” are sexy and scary. Like “Oldboy” they explore the inner workings of the fears that can be unearthed through hypnosis. I’m not including them here, because you can’t watch them for free. But check them out when you get a chance.

In the meantime, here are five Korean horror movies you can watch for free on YouTube for Halloween.

5. The Red Shoes

"The Red Shoes" which is also the name of IU's new single. It is a 2005 South Korean horror film written and directed by Kim Yong-gyun. Based very loosely on the fairy tale of same name by Hans Christian Andersen, it is a bloodier version. It seems that anyone who wears the red shoes, other than the original owner, will have their feet chopped off. I'm sure that's not what IU was going for, but hey, she probably saw it in the movies.

4. Hansel and Gretel (2007)
Staying with the fairy tale theme, the South Korean horror movie “Hansel and Gretel” gives a grisly take on the old kids’ favorite. It also references the fairytales Cinderella and The Red Shoes, which were both made into South Korean horror films. Hansel and Gretel was directed by Yim Pil-sung.

3. A Blood Pledge (2009)
"A Blood Pledge" was also called "Whispering Corridors 5: A Blood Pledge" and "Suicide Pact." It is a classic with a K-Horror film. It was the fifth entry to the "Whispering Corridors" series of South Korean horror films. These were all set in girls' high schools. The series began in 1998. "A Blood Pledge" is actually a standalone film from the series.

2. Ghost House (2004)
“Ghost House” is a comedy horror in the tradition of Ghostbusters, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Zombieland, An American Werewolf in London and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was actually the fourth biggest South Korean film of 2004. Besides being South Korea’s top horror movie.

1. Bloody Reunion (2006)

“Bloody Reunion” was originally released in South Korea as “To Sir, with Love” but was also called “My Teacher,” and “Teacher's Mercy.” This South Korean horror film was the feature film debut of director Im Dae-woong. It tells the story of a girl who isn’t popular at school and takes it out on her classmates with poisonous plots. The problem is, she’s only hurting herself. I don’t want to give too much away. Watch it, it’s free.

Happy Halloween from Kpopstarz.com.
