Berlin Film Festival 2014: Wes Anderson’s Whimsical Comedy Grand Budapest Hotel To World Premiere At 64th Berlin International Film Festival In Berlinale Palast On February 6

Berlin Film Festival 2014 11-day event will open on February 6, the American writer and director Wes Anderson's latest film Grand Budapest Hotel will be premiering at the event.

The 64th Berlin International Film Festival will take place at Belinale Palast starting On February 6 until February 16.

The whimsical comedy, Grand Budapest Hotel,  tells a story of a stolen priceless painting and the adventures of a legendary concierge, played by Fiennes set at a famous European hotel during the wars, which were partly filmed in Germany, and a lobby boy who becomes his most loyal friend.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is co-produced by Grand Budapest Limited (U.K.) and Neunzehnte Babelsberg Film (Germany). Wes Anderson together with Scott Rudin, Steven M. Rales and Jeremy Dawson are the producers of the film.

The movie which was shot mainly in Gorlitz and some parts in Saxony, Germany and at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam, stars Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Paul Schlase and Tony Revolori.

Also included in the film are Mathieu Amalric, F. Murray Abraham, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Jude Law, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Saoirse Ronan, Tom Wilkinson, Lea Seydoux and Owen Wilson.

The movie is set to kick off the 11-day Berlinale Festival and according to its director, Dieter Kosslich,

"We are very delighted that Wes Anderson will open the 64th Berlinale with his new film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. With unmistakable Wes Anderson charm, this comedy promises to kick things off in a big way."

Prior to that, the three-time Oscar nominee, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom opened Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Anderson is also known for having a large cult following because of his previous films such as The Royal Tenanbaums, The Life Aquatic wit Steve Zissou and the stop-motion animation Fantastic Mr Fox, which was a movie adaptation of Roald Dahl's book.

In addition, Anderson is already a veteran in Berlin Film Festival as two of his films The Royal Tenenbaums (2002) and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2005), were included in the competition section already.

The film is scheduled to roll out across Europe in February and March 2014, while Fox Searchlight Pictures will be releasing the movie in U.S. theaters come March 7, 2014.
