On D-9 Of Voting For 2013 MAMA, F(x) Leads Girls Generation For Best Female Group, Lee Hyori Faces Off Against Ailee For Best Female Artist

As the countdown to the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards begins, the voting is becoming more competitive.

On November 13th, Mnet announced the list of special guests who will be performing at the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) on November 22st. Included in the line up of special guests is American R&B icon and musical prodigy, Stevie Wonder, as well as the Swedish indie pop duo Icona Pop, and YouTube sensations Ylvis.

As the award ceremony draws closer, so do the votes that are separating winners from potential losers. In the Best Female Group category, fans of f(x) are making a strong show of support having catapulted the group to face off against label mates, Girls Generation. F(x) currently has 31.7% of the vote in the category while Girls Generation follows closely at 31.3%. Girls Generation, coming off of their recent win of the inaugural YouTube Music Award for I Got A Boy currently maintains a large lead at 42.1% against Sistar's 31.3% in the Best Dance Performance-Female Group category.

YG Entertainment's Lee Hi is maintaining a solid lead in the Best New Female Artist category at 42.3%, followed by Lim Kim at 27.2% and Crayon Pop with 14.5%. 2NE1's CL currently maintains a lead for her solo release, The Baddest Female in the Best Dance Performance-Female Solo, however she is closely followed by Lee Hyori at 36.4%.  CL will join the ladies of 2NE1 for an on-stage performance at 2013 MAMA which has brought forth comeback rumors for the group.

In the Best Originial Soundtrack category, Yoon Mirae maintains a very solid lead with 45% of the vote for Touch Love her contribution to the Master's Sun soundtrack.

Fans of female solo artist Ailee have shown strong support for the artist, in spite of her recent scandal. In the Best Female Artist category, Ailee follows Lee Hyori in the votes. Lee Hyori currently maintains the lead at 31.4% of the vote , but Ailee is in a close second with 30.4% of the popular vote. IU has made a strong comeback with The Red Shoes, which she is nominated for in the Best Vocal Performance-Female category. Currently, IU has 35% of the supporting votes while Ailee follows with 32.2% for U&I.

As of November 13th, 7.2 million votes had been cast, with a large majority of those votes coming in from China with 44 percent. South East Asia followed China with 27% of votes, while Korea trailed with only 15% of votes. K-Pop fans in the United have provided 4.1% of votes and voters in Japan account for 1.7 of the vote. The attempt by Mnet to clarify the voting process with multilingual support has made a vast difference in which countries will be providing their show of support for the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Voting for the 2013 MAMA will take place until November 21st.
