'Infinite Challenge' Temporarily Stops Online Sales of 'I Got C,' Primary Issues an Apology Regarding the Plagiarism Controversy

Reps from the popular variety show Infinite Challenge have announced that they will stop online sales of the song "I Got C" by Primary and Park Myung Soo until the alleged plagiarism conflict is officially resolved.

Last week, the show's producers and guest musician Primary were confronted with claims that the song, which was part of the program's biannual music festival, copied the tune "Liquid Lunch" by Caro Emerald.

For the special programing, rapper Primary teamed up with funnyman Park Myung Soo to create "I Got C," a swing-infused, retro hip-hop track that proved to be quite popular among the show's audience. And the similar genre seems to be the source of the plagiarism controversy.

According to a statement from Primary's record label Amoeba Culture, "'I Got C' and 'Liquid Lunch' are two songs that are technically very different, but may sound similar because they are both an unusual fushion genre of swing and retro hip-hop. Perhaps this was the cause of the accusation."

Despite Caro Emerald coming forth and saying "I Got C" does not resemble her song, the controversy continues on and has caused the Infinite Challenge producers to take careful, yet drastic, action.

A rep from the variety show explained, "We sincerely apologize for causing worry with the controversy surrounding the Infinite Challenge Music Festival's Guhmary team's song."

"Following the broadcast of the music festival, we were confronted with an unexpected issue and we are currently working to understand and resolve the situation," the show's representative continued. "Until the matter is resolved, we have decided, after discussion with Amoeba Culture, to cease the online sales of 'I Got C'."

Primary, has also come forth to further explain his side of the controversy. On November 13 he released an apologetic message through Amoeba Culture's official website.

"Regardless of what the reason may be, I think that this occurred due to my immaturity," the statement began. "I have a sorry and regretful heart for unintentionally causing worry to Infinite Challenge's PD Kim Tae Ho, the staff, and Park Myung Soo who participated as my partner for the song, who endlessly showed their material and emotional support."

The rapper continued with a respectful maturity, "As I observed the series of processes, I thought multiple times that I should express my opinion, but I was afraid that it would lead to a bigger misunderstanding. Now that I get to speak my mind, I bow my head and apologize again. I fully respect that Infinite Challenge's reps will temporarily cease online sales."

He finished by vowing continued attention to the matter, "I promise that I will work to resolve all of the issues surrounding the song a day sooner."

In response to their difficult decision to halt sales of "I Got C" for the time being until the matter is completely resolved, another rep from Infinite Challenge explained that the program's producers are taking the matter seriously and they "will work hard to become an Infinite Challenge that will be able to make quick and mature decisions."
