It was a week of heavy competition all around. This week Lady Gaga admitted that she smoked about 20 joints a day to deal with her surgical recovery and Miley Cyrus smoked a joint at the MTV EMAs.

Lady Gaga took her turn last night hosting "Saturday Night Live" and gave the weekly skit show its best overnight rating since March.

Lady Gaga was the host and musical guest. She appeared in a number of sketches and at all ages. Lady Gaga turned a lot of the humor on herself, winking at the audience while putting down overdone fashion and covering Madonna's "Express Yourself" with her own born this way, unchanged. Lady Gaga took on her own criticism and made "SNL" the night's No. 1 program.

Saturday Night Live hasn't seen these numbers since Justin Timberlake as host and musical guest on March 9. It match the best "SNL" has done since Miley Cyrus hosted on Oct. 5.
