Walt Disney’s Beloved Daughter Diane Miller-Disney Died At 79 Due To ‘Complications From A Fall,’ Says Los Angeles Times

Walt Disney's beloved daughter Diane Miller-Disney died at the age of 79, according to Reuters.

The philanthropist and daughter of cartoon and theme park mogul Walt Disney died on Tuesday in Napa, Northern California due to injuries she sustained from a fall, according to Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco.

Bob Iger, Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer said that the company that was founded in 1923 by brothers Walt and Roy Disney was "deeply saddened by the loss."

"As the beloved daughter of Walt Disney and one of his inspirations for creating Disneyland, she holds a special place in the history of the Walt Disney Company and in the hearts of fans everywhere," Iger told in a statement.

Diane Disney-Miller was born in 1933. She married professional football player Ron Miller in 1954. Her husband Ron was named as the company's president in 1978 then a chief executive officer during the following years.

In 1984, Ron Miller was overthrown from the business, allowing Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Frank Wells to take over as the new executive team, who then helped convert the dull theme park and animation company into a powerhouse entertainment that includes hit movies, TV shows and brand new theme park attractions located in Orlando, Florida and Paris, France.

In 1976, Walt Disney's daughter Diane and her husband Ron Miller bought a chateau in Napa Valley and opened a collection of vineyards labeling it as Silverado Vineyards.

She was also influential in the construction of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by architect Frank Gehry in downtown Los Angeles, a musical venue meant to seat 2,265 people and serve as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Walt Disney's adopted daughter, Sharon Mae Disney, died in 1993, 10 years ahead of Diane Miller's death. Miller is survived by her husband with their seven children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
