100%V "Our Song Will Be Popular On the Way Home, Right?" - Interview

They really are different. Group 100% has comeback with a ballad and four of the softer voiced members. Their new group name? 100%V. V stands for vocals.

From the seven member group consisting of Minwoo, Rockhyun, Jonghwan, Chanyong, Changbum, Hyukjin, and Sanghoon, members Chanyong, Jonghwan, Hyukjin, and Rockhyun were chosen to sing the ballad "Missing You". The Korean Title, "Twae Geun Ghil", translates to "The Way Home from Work". The title doesn't necessarily suit an idol group, but the song is actually appealing to those in the late 20's and 30's.

The members, clad in full makeup and autumn clothes, prepared for the interview by asking, "Have you heard our song yet?"

Chanyong explained their song, saying, "It's time for us to appeal to the older fans as well. We need to succeed so that more people come to love out main group, 100%. 'Missing You' is a nice autumn ballad, and we chose the four members who best fit the song. We do feel a little bit guilty and sorry for performing without the other three members, and that's why we'll try even harder to appeal to our fans with this song."

Their smokey makeup and chic dress code set them apart from the first time they debuted. Their look has changed to appear more masculine. Their changed look goes well with the song that they are confident will appeal to the older audience.

Jonghwan explained, saying, "We hear often that our visuals are better now without the three members (laughter), but they'd argue against that. Actually, we had to change our style completely to match the song. We didn't want to alienate the older fans by appearing as an idol boy band."

When the song debuted in the morning, it remained in the 70's on the online charts. But 100%V wasn't worried. Their logic? A song called "The Way Home from Work" needs to be listened on the way home from work.

Hyukjin explained, saying, "Of course the song would appeal to those going home. That's the emotion that we input into the song. When they're getting off work they'll give this song a listen. I am confident that it will be a hit for everyone who works."

Rockhyun added, "We know what it feels like, even though we haven't worked at all. We feel that the experience is similar to when we were trainees. We'd give it our all day in and day out. The way home was exhausting, and we didn't want to go home right away. We wanted to rest up and maybe grab a drink. Doesn't everyone?"

The ballad also has a few dance moves to go with it. The lyrics that talk about drinking after work is followed by a choreograph that depicts drinking. They call their dance "Push-pull dance" and "Scribble Dance."

Chanyong explained, "We're a dance team primarily so we wanted to add unique dances. There are some interesting and fun dances that go well with the lyrics, especially the drinking dance. We don't drink often, although sometimes we do order chicken and beer at our dorm. Hyukjin has the highest alcohol tolerance. (Laughter)"

Their resolution to succeed with the 100%V name is firm. They are a unit group that branched off from a main group, but their sense of responsibility is for the whole group.

"We want to ask our fans to listen to our song at least on their way home. It's okay if you forgo it in the morning, since the mood may not match. We really focused to make the song a genuine Autumn/Winter hit. Our song will be happily accompanying you from work to your house."
