John Park “Me? A Player?”
John Park has revealed his opinion about his player image.
On the 22nd, he released his debut album "Knock" and kicked off a successful start as a singer. His album has received many positive reviews.
He had worked on the album for about a year after leaving Super Star K2.
John Park revealed that "I had some musical concerns but I also needed some time off. I had auditioned for Super Star K2 with aspirations as a singer but there had been many unexpected hardships along the way."
Some of them include his image projected through the show.
"I had tried to project a bright and happy image throughout the show for the audience's enjoyment but people misunderstood me as a player. I'm actually a very quiet person. Sometimes older musicians are a bit disappointed at how reclusive I am."
"I spend a lot of time just zoning out by myself or reading, listening to music, or watching movies. At other times, I work on artsy stuff such as music or writing."
This album is quite personal to John Park in many ways. It is a testimony to his musical sophistication. And it is the musical outlet that helped him endure the loneliness of living abroad alone.
There are a total of five songs including the title track "Falling." A slow ballad written by Andy Flatt of the British Band "Mama's Gun", John Park himself has written the lyrics for the song.
"Falling" is fundamentally acoustic but contains a mix of Brit Pop, R&B, and Bossa Nova which gives it a bright and light overall touch. But the heavy sound in the background adds depth and earnestness.
John Park debuted through Mnet "M Countdown" on the 23rd.
