Beyond Hallyu Stands By Allkpop Boycott For Ailee Nude Photo Scandal: 'Fans Have The Power' Editor Says [Exclusive]

When the Korean entertainment website allkpop published partially censored unauthorized nude photos of the South Korean singer Ailee on Nov. 10, the UK publication Beyond Hallyu was the first to announce a boycott.

It took Beyond Hallyu founders Sasha Traynor and Lizzie Parker less than 24 hours after the nude Ailee photos were published to enact a lifetime allkpop ban.

In a statement emailed to KpopStarz on Tuesday, Parker confirmed that the publication isn't backing down from their promise to avoid any mention of or link to allkpop on Beyond Hallyu.

"We made an editorial decision to no longer post links from allkpop for moral reasons," Parker wrote. "We still stand by this decision and as time passes it seems more and more like it was the right call."

"The international K-pop fandom is still fairly young and its culture is still being shaped," the Beyond Hallyu editor added.

"We think K-pop fans have the power to do this if they choose to and we wanted to use our platform to highlight the kind of behavior that we don't want to see from K-pop media outlets."

Parker believes the boycott is gaining momentum.

"We're glad to see that there are many like-minded people who agree with us," she wrote.

Those taking Ailee's side in the allkpop nude photo scandal got some good news yesterday as a Korean news outlet claimed to attain the official report the 24-year-old singer filed with the New Jersey Palisades Park Police Department back in 2009.

In it, Ailee allegedly claims being tricked into sharing nude photos with a man pretending to offer her a job as a lingerie model, as her record label YMC Entertainment had initially claimed.

Ailee's police report describes the night in question, a summer night where she said she was chatting with a friend on Facebook between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

According to the publication eNEWS, the friend recommended she send 50 nude photos to a third party, presumably as part of the modeling scam. Ailee reportedly realized her Facebook account had been hacked into shortly thereafter.

KpopStarz's requests for comment from the Palisades Park Police Department were not responded to.

"Ailee did report the lingerie scam to the police in 2009," a YMC Entertainment rep confirmed on Monday.

"We have records of the investigation and confirmation. We are currently working with a lawyer in the US to take legal action."
