Jay Park: Up Close and Personal in Malaysia

Jay Park, dubbed as 'The Fresh Prince of Seoul', recently came to Malaysia for a private showcase on 24th November to promote his own E! News Asia Special, which chronicles his journey to stardom with exclusive footage and interview. The following day, he met with the members of media the following day at Mandarin Oriental. During the press conference, he talked about life with AOMG (his independent label), being labeled a bad boy and experiences in filming for the E! News Asia Special.

Having recently launched an independent label called AOMG which houses talents such as Gray, LO, Jeong Goon, Cha Cha and Jay Park himself, he said that with the label, he is very much hands on because he created the label himself and the reason he created it was so that he can have creative control and the freedom to choose his own career path. He also added that life has become more hectic, "It's overwhelming but fun at the same time, because right now, I'm not just worrying about myself, but about other artists as well," adding that these artists also need to do well and establish themselves as artists even without him being beside them. The artists under the label will be producing Hip Hop and R&B songs.

Constantly labeled as a bad boy, when asked whether he was personally okay with that, he said, "Maybe the label came because of the tattoos and piercing, but I don't really do anything too bad... I hope," adding that eventhough the image seems cool but he don't think he would do any bad actions. He said that some of the tattoos that he has on his body has no meaning at all but most of it are about what his passions are, and what he considered important in his life, like family, music and dancing.

Being in the industry for so long and having gone through so much highs and lows, trials and tribulations, Jay said that if he had the chance to change anything back when he first started, he wouldn't really change anything. He commented, "You have to do mistakes in order to be yourself. I wouldn't have been me if I did something different." He also said that he had learnt to stay positive, work hard and enjoy himself. When asked how his family react to his popularity, he said, "My family is staying with me right now and of course they are really proud of me."

For fans who are waiting for any upcoming tour or album, Jay said he's working on the new album right now, which might be released next March. Proclaiming his love for girl groups, he said that he would like to collaborate with all girl groups. Having said before that SISTAR was a girl group to watch out for, he had expressed interest in a collaboration if there is any opportunity that would come along. He also mentioned how Jeong Goon (from AOMG) had written a song for Hyorin's solo debut and Jay himself had also collaborated with Soyu on Immortal Songs.

Talking about his experiences filming the E! News Asia Special, he said he was glad that he had the opportunity to do this show, adding that it was an actually an honour for him to do so as he had watched Nicki Minaj's show a couple of years ago and thought that it was really interesting. He stated that fans will probably be able to find out things that they don't really know about him before and as he had always wanted to show what happened behind the scenes and his daily life. Used to having cameras around him a lot made it really feel comfortable for him while filming the show and having friends around helped a lot too. He commented, "The whole thing is a story, so you don't want to miss any part of it so you should see from start to finish."

You heard the man! The E! News Asia Special will be showing on Astro Channel 712 on 3rd December at 9.30pm. Make sure you stay tuned!
