Huawei Ascend P6 Review, News: Specs Of 4.7-inch HD Display, 8MP Camera, 8GB Storage, Expected To Run Android 4.4 KitKat January; Great Design But Lacks Performance

Huawei Ascend P6 review, news: Chinese tech giant Huawei has hit the market with the Ascend P6 with the device having a 4.7-inch HD display, 8 MP camera, 8GB storage and powered by the company’s in-house chipset, the Huawei K3V2 quad-core 1.5 GHz processor. The Huawei Ascend P6 has 2 GB of RAM and is deemed as the second slimmest smartphone in the world at 6.2MM and weighing only 120 grams. The world’s slimmest smartphone is the Vivo X3.

The camera specs of the Huawei Ascend P6, starting with the 8-megapixel rear camera has a BSI sensor and is able to record 1080p HD video. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and the device currently runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Last November, Phone Arena reported that Huawei announced that the Ascend P6 will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat in January 2014, skipping the Android 4.3 update. The Phone Arena report noted that the firmware should be “cooked and ready to go by the end of January next year, about two months or so from now.”

Android Central bills the device as one that has “great design, impressive specs and a solid price.” The device falls short, however, in the overall performance of the device once you turn it on. As the Android-focused site describes, the Huawei Ascend P6 has a surprisingly poor performance and questionable software design that makes them want to put the phone down and look at it from arm’s reach.

Huawei seems to have perfected the look and feel of the device and even the camera has, according to Android Central’s review, been capable of taking great pictures. But it looks like the overall user experience it delivers is unsatisfactory.

A quick look at Amazon.com shows that the device is being sold at $390.35. It’s a price that can easily be beaten by the Nexus 5, which has both garnered rave reviews for its look and overall performance.
