Just as the heat appeared to be dying down for allkpop following the confession last month from vice president of content Daniel Lee that he attempted to sell unauthorized nude photos of his pop star ex-girlfriend Ailee to Dispatch, the online publication appears to be incurring the wrath of k-pop fans yet again.

This time around, the online vitriol is over the website's decision to create what they are calling the allkpop meme center.

For the uninitiated, an internet meme is a photo, typically of a celebrity, an iconic movie scene or a cute pet, with a humorous line of text or two.

The memes that have been published by allkpop since creating the meme center have ranged from jokes about Big Bang rapper T.O.P being vain ("your argument is invalid I am fabulous") to Girls' Generation singer Sooyoung apparently being rude at a McDonald's ("bitch I said double patties").

Visitors to the site can also create their own Internet meme, similar to services offered on other websites like Tumblr.

"Memes have become central to the K-pop fandom, which is why we developed the allkpop meme center," read allkpop's online announcement of the new meme center.

The announcement called the allkpop meme center a "early Christmas gift" to readers.

Yet for several readers, it's a gift they'd like to send back.

"I'm cringing after looking at the meme center," Expatmoi wrote on Tuesday.

Reader Koinohana004 is on the same page.

"I reject this," she wrote. "K-pop fans are notorious for unfunny creation and use of memes."

Allkpop reader Twinity had some advice for the website.

"In my opinion, one, you're a news site. Stay that way," Twinity wrote. "Two, don't try to become like Tumblr. Three, this is completely random and they're not even funny."

Katanaqt was willing to give allpop the benefit of the doubt before checking out the memes.

"I thought this was a cute and fun idea, I mean come on, who doesn't like a good meme, but that is the problem; there are no good memes," Katanaqt wrote. "Like wow allkpop, those are pretty dang terrible. Now I understand all of the hate comments."

Allkpop reader Passionburn19 had meme of her own.

"No just stop," it read.

But not all of the over 70 comments the site received were negative.

For allkpop fan Vpace the meme center is a godsend.

"Hopefully this will get me through 12 hours at school and eight hours at work," the reader wrote.
