Review: K-Pop Boy Band HISTORY Outshines The Competition With The Dance Grooves Of 'Tomorrow' From The 'Blue Spring' EP [AUDIO]

A good pop song is a guilty pleasure.

Like a video game you can't put down or that one dessert you can't give up, it is a song you are drawn to even if you'd rather not be.

When pop songs like the Britney Spears song "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" or the Bruno Mars song "The Other Side," featuring Cee-Lo Green, come over the sound system, you have little control over what this music does to your heart and your hips, even if your head is giving you a laundry list of reasons you don't like the artist.

Interestingly enough, shades of both of these songs can be heard on "Tomorrow," the new single off of the three-song EP "Blue Spring," by five-piece South Korean boy band HISTORY.

Though it has been a mere eight months since they made their debut on the record label LOEN Entertainment, HISTORY knows what it takes to make a pop song that gets inside of your DNA.

The overall production on "Tomorrow" is impressive to say the least.

And although it bares the mark of modern Pro Tools perfection, the group scores a backing band that sets the track on fire, particularly in the Nile Rodgers-esque funk guitar and the spooky, "Monster Mash"-style keyboard parts.

The beats are recorded, spliced and arranged in a way that is powerful and danceable without sounding contrived, no small feat.

And even after several listens it is difficult to tell exactly what was played live, as the fills certainly do not sound sequenced, although these days it is getting increasingly harder to tell.

HISTORY is in top form here, delivering their vocals in with the laid back confidence of a seasoned veteran.

Yet there is also something satisfyingly fresh and new about the sound of "Tomorrow."

One thing is for sure, this group is one that's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
