The way people think about idol singers that act has completely changed. Idol actors are starring in dramas and showcasing impeccable acting skills.

Idol turned actors are showing their talent through broadcast and cable channels, and are leaving a good impression on the public. Previously there were many 'acting controversies' regarding idols that started acting. However, this doesn't apply anymore to the acting idols. That's all in thanks to not only the good ratings they receive from viewers, but also the viewership ratings.

Idols that have a good reputation for acting star in a large number and range of works, and are no less skilled than rookie actors. This is also the reason why the acting controversies have noticeably decreased recently.

Recently, the most popular dramas are starring idol actors. SISTAR's Dasom is currently starring in KBS 1TV's "Melody of Love," and this drama has achieved a national TV audience of 26% and has risen to the #1 drama. The drama's steady popularity has at least in part been attributed to Dasom's fresh new face and natural acting skills.

MBC's drama "Golden Rainbow" starred Uee, which ranked the highest viewership rating. On December 8th, Uee starred in an adult role and successfully filmed an intense action scene. This broadcast reached 14.9% viewership, and took the number 1 spot for all programs of the same time slot.

Girls' Generation Yoona starred alongside Lee Bum Soo in a drama. She's been praised for acting in this role despite the 20-year age difference between the two. Not only that, Yoona wasn't afraid to fully take on a character that is emotionally broken in every episode, and portrayed the character very well. She showed the audience a side to her that no one's seen before. Her outrageous and outspoken acting has erased all previous notions of idol actors.

IU is the same way. She had previously already proven her acting skills in KBS 2TV's "You're the Best, Lee Soon Shin," and she's still proving herself in her new drama "Beautiful Man." She is acting alongside Hallyu star Jang Keun Suk in the drama, and is appealing to the male audience with her lovely charm.

Idols have been playing a prominent role even on cable. BEAST's Yoon Doojoon is receiving a lot of love for his role in tvN's "Let's Eat." The mysterious yet familiar character can be hard to relate to, but he is fully digesting that role, and has been receiving praise from the public for his acting.
