K-Pop For The Holidays: Park Bom Proves Nothing Says Christmas Like Snow, Axes, And Rats

Now that the twelve days of Christmas have officially arrived, it seems like every K-Pop agency is flooding the market with holiday singles and mini albums. YG Entertainment harkens back to the classic E.T.A Hoffman tale and Tchaikovsky ballet, The Nutcracker with discordant images of falling desserts, a mouse, and an ax wielding Park Bom.

The second teaser for the new unit BH, reveals that 2NE1's Park Bom is the "B" that makes up the duo. The other subject of the duo has their face obstructed in the video but is merrily dancing with festive sparklers. The teaser makes for a performance-art style homage to a classic tale proving that the unit's All I Want For Christmas may stand apart from other recent K-Pop holiday releases. All I Want For Christmas will have a pre-release on December 17th through Samsung Music. The digital release date is December 20th.

T-ARA's Hide & Seek Winter Version features a holiday treatment in terms of costuming while combining both uptempo and down tempo aspects to the song. Hide & Seek is meant to illustrate the ebb and flow that occurs within relationships. Consistent with many other K-Pop releases at Christmas it is a single that is meant to be a comfort for those who are lonely at Christmas. In the spirit of Christmas, T-ARA also released a Christmas card for their fans and announced a Christmas Eve charity event. The event will be live streamed through UStream Korea.

With a title that would not fare well in Urban Dictionary, Starship Planet released the upbeat holiday jingle Snow Candy. The single features K.Will, Sistar, and Boyfriend with an incredibly sweet sentiment. The single opens with the subject asking to see their loved one several days a week and expressing their unfailing love. Snow Candy is definitely one of the most romantic Christmas songs for couples celebrating the holiday together or for those looking to confess to that special person.

YG Entertainment continues to release teasers for their new duo and has yet to show whether or not the upcoming release will be comprised of original tracks. T-ARA's Hide & Seek proves to be an additional holiday present to fans who have eagerly received the group's comeback. With so many down tempo Christmas songs, it is refreshing to hear Starship Planet's expression of love and devotion in Snow Candy. Music makes an excellent gift for the holiday season and there have been plenty of K-Pop releases to make their way onto wish lists.
