Beyonce’s Surprise Album’s Sales Is Queen B’s Best Selling Ever; How Come It Won’t Be Available In Target’s Shelf?

Does Beyonce have some "target" on the back courtesy of America's second largest retailer as it refuses to sell Queen B's surprise album, her best selling ever?

Yes, if you are looking for the singing diva's self-titled album on Target's shelves, you are likely to be disappointed. That's because Target, which trails only Walmart in terms of sales, will not be carrying "Beyonce," the surprise album, in any of its stores.

Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski, in a statement, explained: "At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections."

She said they certainly have no axe to grind with Jay Z's better half after some successful partnerships with Beyonce in the past. However, the company is focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format, as opposed to digital one.

"At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce's new self-titled album 'Beyonce,'" the company statement read.

Beyonce released the surprise album-comprising of 14 tracks and 17 videos-exclusively on iTunes at around midnight of Friday.

Apple Inc. on Monday announced that the album was the "fastest-selling album ever" on iTunes after selling 828,773 albums in the first three days. The corresponding reception surprised even Beyonce herself since she released her latest creation sans the usual media fanfare and promotional hype.

As to Target's decision not to carry her album, Beyonce is hardly fazed.

In a clip that can be seen on her Facebook page, she said that she wanted something new in terms of releasing her music because she was "bored" with the traditional method.

"I feel like I'm able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give that message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready from me to my fans," she said.

"I wanted everyone to see the whole picture and see how personal everything is for me. I would make my best art and just put it out," Beyonce added.
