World K-pop Highlight: The Impact of K-pop Through Europe's 4th So-Loved Awards

The 2013 So-Loved Awards created quite a buzz early this December.

However, when it comes to prestigious awards for K-pop, So-Loved Awards is quite a newbie, with only just four years.

The award-giving body started in 2010 with the thought to have an award for the German-speaking K-Pop community. In the year 2011, the notion was again taken up with the cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin. With it's name retained, it would now also be promoted as the first "European K-Pop Awards". In 2012 gave the continuity of the project, however it was with the support of KOFICE (Korean Organization for International Cultural Exchange). The KOFICE also sponsored the "so-loved Awards Party" which was held in the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin in December 2012 and celebrated the winners of that year's Awards.

This year, Europe's K-pop awards has been enormously given support not only by European fans but also by international fans. 340,000 people voted for their favourite artists and 160,000 of the votes came from the land of the great potential, making it an important role to the “European Supporters," by the help of social media and online forums, a lot have taken part in this event.

This only proves that K-pop has been imminently spreading throughout the globe. With new groups being known and veteran idols gaining more support from international fans, there is no doubt that K-pop is not just popular today, but for sure will be even known as a part of the world music for generations to come.
