Ellen DeGeneres Oscars 2014 Trailer Released, 86th Academy Awards Logo Celebrates AMPAS

Ellen DeGeneres Oscar 2014 trailer was released Thursday night by the Academy.

Set to the tune of “The Walker” by Fitz and the Tantrums, the one minute video has the tux clad energetic Oscar host matching steps with 250 other tuxedo clad men and women.

Paul Feig, of ‘Bridesmaid’ and ‘The Heat’ fame, has directed the video while ‘tWitch’ Boss and Allison Holker (of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’) have choreographed it.

The new Oscar video, part of the ‘Here We Go’ campaign, has officially heralded the 86th Academy Awards, which will be presented on 2nd March, 2014. The Academy Awards 2014 nominations will be announced on January 16, 2014. Along with the video, the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences (AMPAS) also unveiled the new logo, the Oscar statuette silhouetted on the A of the Academy.

This is perhaps the first time that the AMPAS got its due regard on the Oscar logo. According to Christina Kounelias, Chief Marketing Officer of the Academy, with the new log ‘we set out to build something that accurately reflects our community of artists, their diverse talents, and the creative process they employ to bring disparate ideas together into a single vision.’

An Academy Museum is also on cards, which will be ready by 2017 and span an area of 290,000 square feet.

In the run up to the Oscars main event, the Academy is steadily releasing the list of songs, movies, artists etc that have been shortlisted to battle it out for the final nominations in each list. Most recently, the list of nine movies has been announced in the category of Best Foreign Film, out of which five will make it to the official nominations list.

Similarly, 75 songs have been shortlisted in the Best Song category for the year 2013. For more information, visit the official Oscar website.
