Sub-units are members from the same group who branch out to make their own side group. They are usually comprised of 2-5 members, depending on how many members the group has. FT Island formed "FT Triple" which comprised of Jonghun, Jaejin, and Minhwan. The triplets were released "Love Letter" back in 2010.

The ladies love this sub-unit from Infinite, Infinite H, comprised of Hoya and Dongwoo. One of their more popular songs was "Special Girl" featuring artist Bumkey.

u-Kiss has a sub-unit called "uBEAT" which is made up of Eli and AJ. They released a song called "Should Have Treated You Better" and made all the girls cry and swoon.

ZE:A's large group has a sub-unit called "ZE:A-5," and their single "The Day We Broke Up" went a little bit like this:
