The Hobbit: There And Back Again Spoiler! Peter Jackson Film To Be Delayed; Profit Sharing Issues Cause Third Installment’s Cancellation?

"The Hobbit: There and Back Again" will be reintroduced to the mythology behind Bard the Bowman, the King of Dale but more popularly known as the slayer of the Dragon Smaug.

Played by Luke Evans, fans get introduced to the movie going audience although readers of the book are already familiar with him.

According to Phillipa Boyens, screenwriter for director Peter Jackson, told Screen Rant that they've expanded Bard the Bowman's role in the final installment of "The Hobbit" trilogy.

"Bard is an interesting character, but he's kind of a random character who comes in after the fact (in the book)," she started.

"We take more time introducing him. We know from what follows that he was a father, so we (explore) that. I don't think we take liberties, because it's all there in the storytelling."

Fan girls would also be happy to know that Legolas (Orlando Bloom) will probably have a larger role to play in the "The Hobbit: There and Back Again." However, it's still unclear what role he has to play in the epic saga.

Of course, Legolas was featured prominently in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and helped Frodo Baggins destroy the One Ring and Sauron.

However, fans of the series might have to wait some more as the original schedule for release of the third installment could be moved back because of some money issues.

As reported in Radar Online, the box office receipts of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" amounting to around $140 million is causing a rift between Miramax on one hand and New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. on the other.

If New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. can't agree with the Miramax honchos Harvey and Robert Weinstein to pay them about 5% of the profits, the release of "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" might be scrapped altogether.

According to court documents, as reported Radar Online, both Warner Bros. and New Line "refused to acknowledge their obligation to pay [the Weinsteins] their rightful contingent compensation for the second and third installments of The Hobbit."
